Local charges dropped, federal charge filed in Delaware County, Okla. $1.6 million opium bust

Local charges are dropped against two men accused of receiving a package through the mail that authorities say contained opium.

Authorities say Xue Yang, 32, and Wang Khang, 25, picked up a package in Delaware County, Oklahoma that contained 36 pounds of opium.

It's estimated value was $1.6 million.

Xue Yang was cleared of wrong doing, but Wang Khang was indicted by a federal grand jury and his case is now federal.

Two Delaware County, Oklahoma men are charged in what could be the largest opium bust in state history.

Authorities say Xue Yang, 32, and Wang Chong Khang, 25, picked up a package containing 36 pounds of opium hidden inside mushrooms.

The estimated value of the opium is $1.6 million.

The package originated in Laos and was intercepted by authorities in Dallas, Texas.

The package was then sent it on to its destination - a post office box in Delaware County.

Bond for the suspects is $1 million for each suspect.
