Major street closed after early morning fire tears through a Joplin business

JOPLIN, MO. - Fire crews were called to a fire at Reaves Tire and Automotive in Joplin Tuesday morning.

The fire started shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the display area.

Within a few minutes an overhead door collapsed, giving vent to the fire which spread to the rest of the building.

Seven fire units responded.

A portion of east 7th Street remains closed between Kentucky and Illinois.

Traffic will be closed until at least 5 p.m. due to downed utility poles affected by the fire.
