Associated Press - March 5, 2010 5:04 AM ET

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - The University of Missouri Extension office is holding a series of 1-day conferences for female farmers across the state.

The first session of the "Women in Boots and Blue Jeans Ag Risk Management" conference takes place on Saturday in Columbia.

Other sessions are scheduled for March 19 in Kirksville, April 3 in Savannah, May 1 in Mount Vernon and Aug. 24 in Carrollton.

The primary topic is agricultural land ownership and rentals. Organizers say the event helps female farmers network with other women.
