NEW YORK (AP) - Kevin Durant says withdrawing from the U.S. national team was "definitely tough." Durant stunned the Americans shortly before the Basketball World Cup when he pulled out following their training camp in Las Vegas. He says he needed to "take a step back."
TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The University of Tulsa is being sued by a woman who says she was raped by basketball player Patrick Swilling Jr. in January. Swilling was suspended for the remainder of the basketball season. Prosecutors declined to charge him and the university cleared him of any violations of the student code of conduct. He is not a part of the lawsuit.
MIAMI (AP) - Giancarlo Stanton hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning as the Miami Marlins beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 last night for their third straight win. Miami surpassed last year's total of 62. The Marlins moved over .500 for the first time since June 20th. Sam Dyson struck out the side in the 10th.
SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) - Joshua Houston struck out five in five innings as Chicago's Jackie Robinson West beat Pearland, Texas, 6-1, in an elimination game in the Little League World Series last night. Chicago will face the loser of today's game between Las Vegas and Philadelphia on Thursday night. Chicago backed its starter with two three-run innings.
