
EMPORIA, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern women's track and field team picked up four provisionals at the Emporia State/State Farm Relays today in Emporia.
Lisa Vengels won the high jump with a provisional height of 5-7.25. The height was just two inches off of her school record and was an inch and three quarters from an automatic qualifying mark. Shelby Sutherland was eighth in the event.
Vanessa Langford placed fifth in the pole vault, but was the top division II athlete with a provisional height of 11-11.75. Ashleigh McFarland, Sydney Haase and Melanie Bower all tied for ninth in the vault.
Kylie Cornman and Nicole Green placed fourth and fifth, respectively as both earned provisionals in the shot put. Cornman threw 46-7.50, while Green threw 45-1.75.
Jasmin Hughes was 10th in the 200m, while Taylor Parris and Amber White placing 14th and 18th in the 400m. JeAnna Sheppard placed seventh in the 100m hurdles.
Lindsey Bragg was sixth in the long jump with a distance of 18-5, while Taitum Mead and Shelby Newell were 9th and 10th in the eventh. Mahogany Jones was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 37-05.25, while Newell, White and Mead placed 10th, 11th and 13th.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend, splitting time at both Emporia State and Pittsburg State.
