Joplin Police received a call about an armed robbery on Sunday just before 10:00 p.m. (April 22, 2018). An employee at Charlie's Chicken (2020E. 32nd Street) says she locked the business up and was walking to her vehicle when a male walked up to her in the parking lot. She said he pointed a handgun at her and demanded the night deposit bag. She gave the suspect the bag and says he ran to the southwest. Police officers could not find him. Vehicle Driven By Teen Crashes Through Erie High School

At about 11:30 pm, April 21st, a vehicle crashed into the front door of Erie High School. According to USD 101 Superintendent Steve Wolf, a 16-year-old male from St. Paul drove a pickup truck through the hallways of the school. The incident damaged doorways, walls, furniture and the antique Richey's Drug Store soda fountain. The Erie Police Department arrested the teen at the scene. According to the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday (April 18), deputies were called to 10125 County Lane 273 in Carl Junction. Deputies spoke with two women who were trying to get their dog from their neighbors yard. The women were in the 71-year-old's driveway when the man came out with a pistol threatening to shoot them for trespassing. A Southeast Kansas man is free on bond following a shooting in rural Galena Thursday afternoon.  According to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to residence for woman being shot.  The shooting happened after a verbal argument with a 28 year old male.  Before deputies arrived to the scene the female was taken to a Joplin hospital where she was treat for non-life threatening injuries.
