Welcome to Wilson Medical Center's
Regional Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine Center

At any given time, almost six million Americans suffer from chronic, non-healing wounds. Many are associated with complications from diabetes, and vascular disorders. Others may be a result of pressure, surgical procedures, or trauma.

Our center is hospital-based, provides the most up-to-date approach to wound healing, and remains current in the latest scientific advances in wound care. The Wound Center can help get your life back.

The hyperbaric chamber provides another option for wound healing. The non-invasive clear acrylic chamber provides 100% oxygen to promote the optimum healing opportunity. While breathing pure oxygen, the patient’s blood plasma becomes saturated, carrying 20 to 30 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissue.

The ultimate result is the body’s natural wound healing mechanisms (which are oxygen dependent) are able to function more efficiently. Continued use of hyperbaric oxygen treatment increases the body’s immune and healing response. Medicare and commercial insurances usually cover hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Diagnoses treated most often include:

  • Diabetic wounds of the lower extremity
  • Compromised skin grafts and flaps
  • Delayed radiation injury
  • Necrotizing soft-tissue infections
  • Osteomyelitis (refractory)
  • Crush injury, compartment syndrome & other acute traumatic ischemias
  • Clostridial myonecrosis (gas gangrene)
  • Air or gas embolism
  • Select problem wounds
If you have a wound that has not started to heal in two weeks or not completely healed in six weeks, an evaluation by our expert staff will be beneficial. Our unique multidisciplinary team of dedicated doctors and nurses treat more chronic wounds than anyone else.

Many patients find wounds that have resisted healing after months and even years of traditional treatment are treatable. For most patients, the Regional Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine Center program leaves them completely healed in just a few months.
