    It will soon cost you more to attend Missouri Southern State University. The school's Board of Governors this afternoon, April 25, 2018, approved a tuition hike of $30 per credit hour or nearly 15%. MSSU President Alan Marble said the increase is necessary to help compensate for years of declining state revenue. The tuition hike is to take effect with the fall semester.     JOPLIN LODGING TAX Joplin City Council discusses increasing the city lodging tax at Monday night's work session.  The current lodging tax is 4%.  The city wants to increase that to 6% to build a multi-use facility, but the current cap is 5% by state law.  Council voted to send a proposal to the Missouri legislature, in an attempt to increase that cap to 7%.     NEOSHO COUNTY VANDALISM A string of vandalism hits Neosho County, Kansas on Saturday night.  A 16-year-old allegedly broke into Mac's Git-N-Split convenience store, where he ransacked the store and stole a truck.  He then went to Erie where he drove the stolen vehicle through the front door of building.  The school district spent all Sunday cleaning up the school.  They will hold classes today.     The Joplin Police Department worked a deadly crash at 7th and Tri State Tuesday evening (April 24). Authorities say 58-year-old Mark Rohr, driving a Dodge Durango, was turning east from the stop sign at 7th and Tri State Road.  38-year-old Donald D. Kidwell III was driving a Kawasaki Ninja westbound on 7th street when he hit the rear driver's side of the Durango.  Kidwell was thrown from the motorcycle.     A former Pittsburg Police Officer is sentenced today for aggravated battery. 22-year-old Jesse Davis of Carthage, MO was arrested for an incident that happened on August 26th, 2017. According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Davis and another officer responded to a domestic disturbance in Pittsburg where a male and female were involved in an altercation.
