The incident happened after midnight, the morning of July 17th, 2018. The Joplin Police Department says an officer patrolling 8th and Conner saw a male walking west on 8th drinking out of a full-sized vodka bottle. Joshua Knapp is on trial for first degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Shawn Cook of Iola, Kansas. Today (July 17, 2018) is day two of the murder trial in Allen County. Parsons Police Department is investigating a case of an unresponsive toddler. According to media release officers were called to 2515 Stevens for a two year old female child who was unresponsive.  Police say the investigation is active and ongoing.  KOAM/FOX14 reached out to Parsons Police Department to answer questions about the child's condition,  they are not answering questions or releasing further details of the investigation at this time.

Joplin Police identify the man who's body was found at the interchange of I-44/49 on July 10th. A MODot mowing crew discovered the body and called police around 9:30 a.m. Authorities say the deceased is 48-year-old Thomas L. Bulluck of Sedalia, Missouri. His vehicle was found abandoned at the 11.6 mile marker of I-44 in Joplin on June 5th, 2018. The Missouri State Highway Patrol towed his vehicle. On July 10th, 2018, around 10:00 p.m. Coffeyville, Kansas Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on the 100 block of S. Highland. Officers arrived and discovered that one of the people involved in the complaint was a city police officer, so they called the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to investigate.

    The Missouri Public Service Commission voted 5-0 today to allow Empire District Electric to move forward with various regulatory measures to add wind energy to its sources of power. In October of 2017, Empire District filed with regulators to expand its wind energy resources. The company wanted an additional 800 megawatts of wind energy by the end of 2020. They also planned to close its coal-fired plant in Asbury. That closure has been delayed. (Read more on the original story here...

This comes at a particularly bad time for the store's owner who says it was recently burglarized, once on July 7th and again on July 9th,  Miami Fire Chief Robert Wright says the fire is suspicious because the back door was unlocked when crews arrived.

Officers responded and found the body on a hillside on the north side of the I-44 Westbound transition ramp to Southbound I-49. Police are conducting a death investigation. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting officers. KOAM/FOX 14 is on the scene. We'll have more details as they become available.
