Accused bank robber enters plea

A 71-year-old man from Cherokee, Kansas accused in a Joplin bank robbery attempt appeared in court by video Thursday morning.

Billy Appier pleaded not guilty to attempted robbery.

Authorities say on July 29th he threatened to blow up the US Bank outside of Joplin's Northpark Mall.

Police surrounded the bank and Appier quickly surrendered.

Appier will be back in court later this month.
