Montgomery County contines to have highest unemployment rate in area

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, KAN. - Jobless rates are still on the rise and Montgomery County, Kansas has the highest unemployment rate in the Four States.

July numbers released for the state of Kansas on Monday show Montgomery County at 14.3%, the highest in the state for the second consecutive month.

Just below Montgomery is Wilson County with 12.6%.

Barton County in southwest Missouri rounds out the top three in the Four State region with 11.5%.

The national average is 9.4%.
