Empty O'Sullivan plant in Lamar is purchased

Updated:

LAMAR, MO. - A manufacturing plant that's been sitting empty in Lamar, Missouri could soon be getting new life and new jobs.

An investment group has bought the old O'Sullivan Industries plant and has plans to lease it to Polymer Wood Technologies for door manufacturing.

Over 700 people worked at O'Sullivan before it closed in 2007.

The new tenant plans to install an estimated $20 million worth of new production and IT equipment and spend another $3 million on improvements to the property.

Wood Polymer hopes to commence production by the fourth quarter of 2010.

No word yet on how many jobs will initially be created.
