By ELIZABETH MATTHEWS

FRONTENAC, KAN. - Everyday heroes are being honored Friday in Frontenac, Kansas.

Local law enforcement, fire, rescue and emergency medical officials enjoyed breakfast and lunch at the Frontenac High School cafeteria.

Officials sat with junior and high school students during the breakfast.

The superintendent says this event is to teach students to say thank you to the heroes around us everyday and remember that they are doing us a service.

"9/11 has become a pretty important day to us and the President has declared that as Patriot Day, and it's important to remember particularly those that made sacrifices that day," says Superintendent Dr. Dale Slagle.

Nearly 20 officials took advantage of the breakfast and an assembly followed introducing all uniformed heroes.
