Picher homes relocated to Quapaw

Updated:

QUAPAW, OKLA. - Dozens of homes are being recycled.  Homes that once stood in Picher are being relocated to a subdivision south of Quapaw.

Twenty-two homes have already been moved to a 200 acre subdivision and there are plans to move more.

The homes range in size and price from $70,000 to $180,000.

The realtor in charge of the property says he knew taking on this job it may be emotional.

"You live in a house, you live in a community for so many years, and that's home, and so I knew that there would be some emotional ties to some of these properties," says Gary Schartzer, a realtor for ReMax.

The contractors are planning to move more houses from Picher within the next year.

One house has already been sold and six more are currently under contract.
