Labette Community College President George Knox has returned $500 to his campus activity account.

He had originally used the money as a political contribution but at least one board member said that was inappropriate.

Knox said in a statement that the attorney for the college had found no wrong-doing, but Knox wanted to put the matter to rest.

Labette Community College's attorney says no wrong doing was committed when the college reimbursed the president for a political contribution.

In a special meeting, college board members discussed the $500 check president George Knox gave to Dennis Mckinney's campaign for state treasurer.

The attorney with the Kansas School Board says there's nothing wrong with the school paying the president back.

One college board trustee has an issue with that.

"I feel its wrong. The school should not be supporting political candidates after any circumstances," said Mike Howerter

The college president explains his reasoning in donating to a political figure.

"I think that any time i can advance Labette Community College in our own community, with our state treasurer, with an elected official, I will be happy to do that unless the board changes their policy, said Dr. George Knox
