ASBURY, MO. - It looked like a real emergency, but it was all a training exercise. A drill was held Wednesday at Empire District's Asbury, Missouri power plant.
Freeman Hospital's emergency room piggy-backed on the training by treating a fictitious patient.
Empire officials say this type of training helps emergency teams with potential disaster scenarios.
"I think it is a great for our employees and our local emergency professionals to know what to do at a plant like ours," says Empire Communications Coordinator Emily Stanley. "So it is great to have training to be prepared for the future."
Wednesday's simulated emergency was an ammonium spill.
The Jasper County Emergency Planning Commmittee monitored the exercise.
