ARMA, KAN. - On Tuesday Arma Fire Chief Mike McLeod and Crawford County commissioners are breaking ground on a new fire station.
The chief says the facility has been needed for years now but funding issues stood in the departments way.
Now, a USDA grant is making it a possibilty and Chief McLeod says it can't come soon enough.
"Any time you can see improvement everybody gets excited, we're thinking of the future," McCleod told us. "We're all a volunteer fire company right now. Eventually we'll be able to have paid staff in this facility, things like that, so we're thinking of the future."
Home Center Construction hopes to have the new facility finished by early spring as long as the weather cooperates.
