Student veterans at PSU raising money and awareness

Updated:

By ELIZABETH MATTHEWS

The Student Veteran's Association at Pittsburg State University is hoping to fill the Oval with miniature flags for Wednesday's holiday

Students passing by are being asked to donate $1 and in return will get their name on an American flag.

The group is also hoping to raise money for a flag set, including poles and stands.

SVA member Jeremy Layman says with the Tuesday's event more veterans will become a part of the group.

"It's also kind of a membership drive because we know there's a bunch of veterans on campus but we don't really have any visibility on it and we like to bring more of them and we need people to do things," Layman says.

Pittsburg State is being recognized as one of the most military friendly schools in the nation.
