PITTSBURG, KAN. - A federal lawmaker was in Pittsburg Friday to talk about issues including health care.
Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins spoke at Pittsburg State University as part of the "Profiles of Women in Government" lecture series.
Jenkins also talked with us about the health care reform bill which has passed in the House.
"The House Republicans had an alternative plan, one that addressed the issue of access, affordability, portability, in the right way," Representative Jenkins says. "When it's ready to pop, when they have the votes, it will go. But again, no one that I know of is opposed to health care reform, just opposed to the government take over of the health care system."
The bill is now up for debate in the Senate.
Jenkins, the former Kansas state treasurer, was elected in 2008 to represent the state's 2nd Congressional District.
