ARMA, KAN. - Students in Arma, Kansas surpass their goal of donating 1600 food items to a local church.
Grades Kindergarten through Fifth participated in a contest to see who could bring in the most food items. Both Kindergarten and Fifth grade won and will receive a pizza party.
The food is collected by the Arma United Methodist Church, the Wesley House and the Catholic Charities in Pittsburg.
"I love what they did," says Don Foster of the Arma United Methodist Church. "They have done a great job and I am proud of all of these kids. They have been wonderful."
"Didn't know if we could reach our goal," says the organizer of the food collection, Brandon Ivey. "We are a small rural school, times are hard with everyone, and everybody just came together."
Ivey is a Pittsburg State senior who is going to be a social worker.
