CARL JUNCTION, MO. - You have heard of gingerbread houses and gingerbread men. Those men have to have somewhere to buy stamps, right?
So employees of the Carl Junction Post Office have built a rural post office out of gingerbread.
And because a gingerbread post office was too unusual to keep to themselves they decided to share it with residents of Carl Junction Residential Care.
Workers there say the edible work of art was a hit with residents.
"It gives them something to think about positive," says Donna Lawson of the Carl Junction Residential Care. "Something that is enjoyable, it is not necessary, but it is something that someone thought of them and gave the time to make them something that is special."
Debbie Payne and her daughter Megen Dogoney crafted the country post office which features a barn and an outhouse.
Inside there are even letters in the mail boxes.
