A man wanted by U.S. Marshall's is arrested in Joplin, Mo.

The U.S. Marshall's office says Johnnie Profitt was wanted for violent sexual battery of a child under the age of 12.  The crime happened in Florida.

Marshall's called the Joplin Police Department when they heard Profitt fled to Joplin, Missouri.

Around 8 a.m. Friday detectives arrested Profitt while he was doing temporary work at a strip mall on Range Line Road.

Police say this case was considered high profile.

"They were violent sex crimes with a child that occurred for several years to this one particular child," says Lt. Mile Hobson of the Joplin Police Department.

Proffit is in jail on a Missouri fugitive warrant.

He was booked on a $25,000 bond.
