A Missouri company announces job training opportunities at a news conference Monday in Joplin.
Onshore Technology Services is headquartered in Macon, Missouri, and has locations in Joplin, St. Louis and Lebanon.
On Monday the firm unveiled an upcoming 15-week training program specifically geared toward software development.
Company officials say it is good to be able to train for jobs with advancement potential.
"When you take under-employed dislocated workers and you get them together and they go through that transformation, they think differently and that 'can do' kind of mentality actually spreads in other parts of the community," says Shane Mayes, the CEO of Onshore Technology Services.
Mayes says that upon successful completion of the training program graduates are guaranteed a position with Onshore.
