Former Carl Junction officer gets probation for possessing child pornography

Updated January 28, 2013 - A former Carl Junction police officer who plead guilty to possessing child pornography receives a suspended sentence and will be placed on five years of probation.

Seth Wilkins, 29, was charged in 2010 after an internal investigation of suspected improper online chats with an underage girl turned up evidence of child porn on the officer's personal computer.

Wilkins resigned at the beginning of the investigation. He later admitted he had been downloading child porn videos since 2004.

Wilkins plead guilty in November to the Class C felony.  Under the plea agreement a seven year prison sentence was suspended, with Wilkins receiving five years of probation.

Updated November 20, 2012 - A former Carl Junction police officer now faces up to five years in prison after he pleads guilty to child pornography.

Seth Wilkins, 29, was charged in 2010 after an internal investigation of suspected improper online chats with an underage girl turned up evidence of child porn on the officer's personal computer.

Sentencing for Wilkins is scheduled for January 28.

Posted April 22, 2010 - Seth Wilkins, 26, resigned from the Carl Junction Police Department during an investigation last month.

The Carl Junction Police Department called in the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force to look into improper online chatting with a juvenile.

Detectives say they found the alleged chats along with child porn videos.

Wilkins is charged with felony possession of child pornography.

He will be in court next week.
