Missouri Southern State University school board members took some time Monday to volunteer at Joplin's East Middle School for Martin Luther King Jr's Day of Service 2011.
MSSU administration along with students going to school elsewhere placed property stickers on books to help librarians keep track of what goes where.
Many of the books came from Joplin's North Middle School.
"We actually are able to identify them as our books and get them returned," says East Middle School librarian Bonnie Turner. "They'll come from all sorts of school districts around the Joplin area. They'll actually mail them back to us from Carl Junction, even Seneca. When a student enrolls in school and they'll send them our books."
The volunteers worked towards putting three stickers on 14,000 books.
