
JOPLIN — Pitt State athletes recorded four provisional qualifying marks in day two action at the MSSU Radio Shack Invitational Saturday (Feb. 19).
In the women's competition, Gretchen Clark cleared 5-feet, 8.75 inches in the high jump, placing second and securing a qualifying mark for nationals. Heidi Smith also placed second in the shot put with a PQ mark of 46-7.5.
Nayshona Jones added a third-place effort in the 60m hurdles (9.66) for the women, while Ivy Shepherd placed third in the 600 yard run (1:32.67).
In the men's action, Ethan Hobbs placed fourth in the pole vault, securing a PQ mark of 15-11 in the discipline, while Keenan Soles placed third in the triple jump with a PQ mark of 47-8. Gus Toca also finished third in the shot put (48-8.75) for the Gorillas.
The Gorillas will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., Friday for the three-day 2011 MIAA Indoor Championships.
