Joplin gets an influx of athletes and their families as the Dunamis volleyball club hosts a tournament. More than 50 teams competed today at Joplin's middle schools, Memorial Hall and Sports Park Southwest Missouri. The girls ranged in age from 12 to 18 with teams coming from across the four states some 3 hours away meaning overnight stays in local hotels. Organizers say club volleyball is a great way for girls to get more court time in their sport.
"It's good for the girls so that they can get more exposure to volleyball, besides just during the season, they can get a lot of individual exposure. During the season they will play maybe 16 games and during tournament weekend they may play 10 to 14 on one Saturday." said Jason Vieselmeyer, Dunamis Tournament Director
