Lions golf finishes in fifth place at Dallas Baptist Invitational

DALLAS - The Missouri Southern golf team shot a final round 285 and finished tied for fifth at the 2011 Dallas Baptist Invitational today at the Golf Club of Dallas. 

The Lions, led by identical 20th place, three-round scores of 216 from Andy Hogenmiller, Stephen Boyd and Alec Wickey, shot a three-round team score of 869, finishing 17 strokes off of first-place Abilene Christian. 

Boyd, along with Jamie Voegeli, shot the low round of 70 today for the Lions. Voegeli shot a three-round 221, while senior Seve Smith had a score of 246. Wickey shot a 72 in the final round, while Hogenmiller carded a 73. 

ACU finished five strokes in front of second-place Central Oklahoma, while Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Christian, Southern and Texas Wesleyan rounded out the top five team scores. 

Southern will be back in action next weekend when the Lions head to Edmond, Okla. to compete in the Central Oklahoma Invitational at Kicking Bird Golf Club.
