ROLLA, Mo. - The Missouri Southern Lions (16-15, 1-3 MIAA) dropped game one at Missouri S&T, 8-0 in five innings, before coming from behind to push the Lady Miners into the final frame of game two, winning 2-1.

Game One

Senior Megan Roark led the way offensively for Southern as she collected her fifth double of the season and added a single for the Lions' two hits against Missouri S&T.

Senior Tiffany Bennett (3-8) suffered the loss giving up three home runs that accounted for all eight Lady Miners' runs.

Game Two

Sophomore Kayce Moore (1-1) got the start in the circle for the night cap as she pitched three scoreless innings for the Lions before giving up an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth and then being relieved by junior Nicole Reed (12-4).  Reed finished the game adding five strike outs moving her season mark to 116.

After being down by one run, freshman Brooklyn Farrell scored the tying run on a single by freshman Shelby Romines in the top half of the sixth inning.  Junior Alysha Poteat doubled home the go ahead run in the top of the seventh inning, scoring junior Breanna Volkmann.

The Lions managed to collect 10 hits in game two with Reed, Poteat, Volkmann and Romines with two each and senior Megan Roark and junior Brooke Hurley notching the other two.

Southern will return home to Lea Kungle Field for a MIAA double header Friday as they host the Tigers of Fort Hays State University at 4pm.  Southern will then host Washburn University on Saturday with games starting at 2pm.
