Softball Gorillas Moves to 9-27 with Doubleheader Loss to Lincoln

Updated:

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The Pitt State softball team is now 9-27 overall and 2-10 in MIAA play with 1-0 and 3-0 losses to Lincoln in Jefferson City on Monday (April 11).

In game one, the Gorillas managed only one hit, a double by Kelsey Loncarich in the fourth inning. Pitt State had four other base runners, two reached on walks, one a fielders choice and one on an error.

Lincoln had eight hits in the game, but did not score its run until the bottom of the sixth.

Each team had only two hits in game two, but the Gorillas also had three errors to help the Blue Tigers earn the 3-0 win. Loncarich and Sears each had base hits for the Gorillas.

Tiffany Brown and Samantha Grove each took a loss in the pitching circle for Pitt State.

PSU will play conference teams this weekend, but those games will not count in the conference standings. The team will take part in the MIAA North Crossover in Kirksville, Mo. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
