Jones, Clark Earn MIAA Women’s Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Keniesha Jones (Lincoln) and Gretchen Clark (Pittsburg State) have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of April 4-10, as selected by a conference SID panel.

MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Keniesha Jones, Sr., Lincoln
Jones broke a meet record time in the 400-meter hurdles screaming across with the top time of 59.29, which is also the top mark in Division II. She added to that a first-place finish time of 55.69 in the 400-meter dash to land the seventh-best time in Division II.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Gretchen Clark, Sr., Pittsburg State
Clark broke both the Pitt State and Prentice Gudgen Track records in equaling the nation's best high jump at the Pitt State Triangular Saturday (Apr. 9). The Cozad, Neb., native cleared 5-feet, 9.25 inches to automatically qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships and share the national lead in the discipline. She bested the previous Pitt State record of 5-8.75 set by Kiley Lund in 2007. Clark also broke a 13-year-old stadium record in the event.

    A truck driver in a crash that killed four people, including a Joplin resident, is charged five months later. The crash happened on November 21st, 2017 outside of Saint Louis, Illinois.     The Joplin Police Department responded to a crash this morning (April 19) around 9:50. Authorities say Brian R. Taylor was driving west on Murphy Blvd when he crossed the center of the road, drove off the side and hit an electronic traffic control box on the southwest corner of Murphy Blvd and Connecticut Avenue in Joplin.
