KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Pitt State men's golf team finished day one action of the 2011 MIAA Championships in ninth place Monday (Apr. 18).
The Gorillas posted rounds of 326 and 321 following 36 holes of competition at Tiffany Greens Golf Club to record a 647 team score, trailing eighth-place Lincoln by one stroke (322-324=646).
Central Missouri built a 17-stroke lead in the two-day, 54-hole event, posting rounds of 295 and 298 for a 593 team score. Washburn was second with a 610 (308-302).
Individually, Brett Dowell led the Gorillas with identical rounds of 78. His 156 score placed him in a tie for 16th place overall heading into Tuesday's final-round action.
