Vengels named MIAA Co-Female Track Athlete of the Week

Updated:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Missouri Southern junior Lisa Vengels has been named the MIAA Co-Female Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Vengels shares the award with Heather Minssen of Nebraska-Omaha.

Vengels won the high jump for the second-straight week, this time tying her own school record and automatically qualifying for the 2011 outdoor national meet at the PSU Gorilla Classic. Her height of 5-9.75 ties her school record she set last year in the MIAA Championships, ironically at the same facility as this weekend. She is tied for the top mark in the MIAA and in all of Division II. She also finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15:17.

The Lions will be back in action this week with groups of runners at events at Kansas, Arkansas and Central Missouri.
