Lions drop season finale at Fort Hays, 8-1

HAYS, Kan. - The Missouri Southern baseball team saw its season come to an end today as the Lions fell, 8-1 at Fort Hays in the season finale. 

With the loss, Southern (24-26, 20-24 MIAA) is officially eliminated from MIAA Tournament contention.

The Lions scored first today as an RBI single from Patrick Deao in the first gave Southern an early 1-0 lead. However, Hays (28-22, 25-19 MIAA) scored a run in the first to tie it up and three more in the second inning. The Tigers then added four more runs over the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Dallas Burke and Jesse Kinzey had a pair of hits each, as Burke scored the Lions' lone run. Deao, Harrison Gerber,Cullen Baxter and Kellen Hoover all had a hit each.

Bo Bergen started for the Lions, while Austin Brown and Cody Griebling pitched in relief.
