Tuesday AM May 10th

Good Tuesday.  I hope your day is going great so far.  It has been a very busy past few days for me, but I have been very productive which is good news.  My son Christian turned two yesterday.  That absolutely just blows my mind.  I can't believe how fast time fly's.

We set a record high yesterday with highs right around 90 degrees.  I expect to be in the upper 80s to near 90 again for us today.  Also we will continue to see the strong southerly winds with gusts over 30 mph.  Here is a look at your current conditions

Our next storm system has been taking its time moving in.  Here is a look at this strong upper level low.

Remember my theories are that we are in a 50 day pattern.  Two cycles ago, so about 100 days from when this system pushes through was the big February 1st blizzard.  However, this time around it causes very warm and windy conditions.  Also chances for scattered thunderstorms.  So here is what I am expecting.  On Wednesday the cold front will be draped across central KS with a dry line extending south into central OK.  Showers and thunderstorms will get going along the dryline on Wednesday afternoon.  These will be west of the area.  I guess I should back up a bit.  There is a chances we could see a few scattered thunderstorms late tonight and Wednesday morning.  Then we will break out into partly sunny skies on Wednesday afternoon.  Now the thunderstorms that will develop west of us on Wednesday afternoon should go severe quickly with a threat for large hail and tornadoes.  However, I do expect these storms to weaken some when they move in.  Also I want to mention when they make it to the viewing area they will be scattered.  This means not everyone will see showers and thunderstorms. So I think the main threat will be gusty winds and large hail by the time they make it into the area.

We will see the scattered thunderstorms into Thursday morning.  The actual cold front won't push through until early afternoon on Thursday.  This will give us slight chances for thunderstorms again early on Thursday.  Also I expect temperatures to drop back off where they should be for this time of the year late in the week.

I will keep you updated on our severe threat and update the blog later today.  Also I will update the long range forecast through at least half of June later today as well.
