A new medical and dental center comes to Cherokee county.
an open house was held at the community health center of southeast Kansas in Baxter springs. Closer than the Pittsburg facility helping those with transportation issues.
the center provides medical and dental care for the under-insured.
"if you make below 100% of the poverty level you get...you can see a doctor for 10 dollars and a dentist for 35. If you make over 200% then you would -- we would be like any other doctors office. So we're not just for the uninsured or under served. We are for everybody for the entire community." says Douglas Stuckey / CFO CHCSEK
the center isn't bound by state lines, so staff are able to see patients from Oklahoma and Missouri as well.
