JOPLIN -- Missouri Southern women's basketball coach Maryann Mitts has announced the signing of Nyzera Flemming to a national letter of intent to play basketball and attend Southern beginning in the fall.
Flemming is a 6-3 post player from Montclair, NJ where she prepped at Montclair High School. She started her junior college career at Kirkwood (Iowa) Junior College where she helped lead the team to a national championship. She transfers to Southern after a sophomore year Illinois Valley Community College this past season.
At Illinois Valley, Flemming averaged ten points and eight rebounds, while she led the country in blocks with five per game. The daughter of Elizabeth McClendon, Flemming is undecided on her future major at Southern.
"Nyzera fills our immediate need for size in the post," Mitts said. "She has proven to be a force defensively and on the boards. We are excited about her willingness and effectiveness in playing with her back to the basket."
