The tornado tore up almost a third of Joplin, and started near 32nd and Central City Road.
The path's beginning ripped off roofs, removed shingles, blew out windows and demolished parts of the residential area.
With multiple vortexes in the area, the damage was sporadic.
John Thomure lives around 32nd street and says trying to move all of his neighbors into his basement was chaotic.
"When we popped out of the basement, we saw the damage. At first we didn't know if everybody is okay because we saw the leveled houses over there and it was bittersweet for us just because it was still standing and we had our neighbors safe cause all of our neighbors came over to our house and it was unreal." says Thomure.
Thomure also says that though the storm was chaotic, a neighbor rode out the storm clinging to the front door handle.
The neighbor made it through the storm okay.
