WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Kevin Shattenkirk scored a power-play goal at 16:58 of the third period to give the St. Louis Blues a 2-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets last night. Alex Steen also scored for the Blues, who had lost lost three of four entering the game.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Scottie Wilbekin scored a career-high 18 points, Dorian Finney-Smith added 15 and No. 19 Florida held on to beat No. 13 Kansas 67-61 last night. Freshman Andrew Wiggins led the Jayhawks (6-3) with 26 points and 11 rebounds - his first double-double and both career highs. Kansas has lost two straight.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) - The St. Louis Cardinals hold their players to a high standard of conduct, and manager Mike Matheny is certain Jhonny Peralta will fit right in. The Cardinals' new shortstop was suspended last summer along as part of Major League Baseball's investigation into the Biogenesis clinic. Peralta served a 50-game drug suspension and returned to the Tigers at the end of the regular season. But Matheny sees a player who popular with his teammates and is working to make amends.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A college basketball player from Kansas who won $20,000 by hitting a half-court shot during an Oklahoma City Thunder game can keep the money. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics says Cameron Rodriguez could keep his winnings for use as a scholarship. The NAIA initially informed the sophomore forward for the Southwestern College basketball team in Winfield, Kan that if he kept the money he'd lose his amateur status. Southwestern College appealed.
