JOPLIN, MISSOURI -
The Joplin Humane Society has allowed adoptions to start back up.
The shelter had put a hold on adoptions when several dogs developed kennel cough which is a severe bronchitis found in dogs.
Since then, all have been tested and passed health exams.
Although kennel cough isn't normally fatal. The humane society wanted to stop the spread of the disease.
"We don't want people to open their homes and their hearts to a shelter animal and then incur large vet bills because the animal is sick so we want healthy adoptable animals going out, and this guy sure is waiting- he's been waiting a while," says Executive Director Karen Aquino.
The Joplin Humane Society will kick-off adoptions with a special price of $20 per pet tomorrow from 1 PM to 5 PM.
