
JOPLIN - Melissa Peden led a balanced Pitt State attack as the women's cross country team defeated Missouri Southern in a dual meet Wednesday (Sept. 21).
Peden finished third overall, second among collegians, in the five-kilometer race, clocking a time of 17 minutes, 56.30 seconds.
Teammates Alex Moase (18:09.60), Kaley Temaat (18:22.30) and Erica Testa (18:29.00) finished fifth, sixth and seven, respectively, while Casey Epps crossed the line in ninth place (18:37.10) to round out the Gorillas' top five scoring positions.
Pitt State finished the dual with 25 points to defeat MSSU (33 pts.) by eight.
The Gorillas will return to action on Oct. 1 when they compete in the OSU Cowboy Jamboree at Stillwater, Okla.
