4-States man charged in fatal shooting is found not guilty

Updated September 7, 2012:  A jury of seven women and five men have found Brian Clapper, of Bentonville, Arkansas, not guilty of all charges against him.

Clapper had been charged in the shooting death of John Bevill at a home in McDonald County in September 2011.

The McDonald County jury found Brian Clapper not guilty of 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault with a Firearm, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.

The defense argued that Clapper fired four shots in defense of himself and his girlfriend.

Reported September 26, 2011:  Southwest Missouri authorities are investigating a double shooting that led to a death in McDonald County over the weekend.

An Arkansas man is behind bars facing charges of murder and assault with a firearm after two men are found shot in Missouri.

Deputies arrested Brian Clapper, 31 of Bentonville, Arkansas late Friday night.

He is charged in the shooting death of John Bevill, 34, who was found dead earlier that night at a home in Washburn.

Clapper is also accused of shooting a second man in the arm.
