Tree giveaway in Joplin

The City of Joplin is set to hand out the first round of trees to storm victims.  Thousands of trees were destroyed in the storm-damaged area and now the Joplin Parks Department is ready to replace those trees for homeowners in that area who have completed the rebuilding or repairs to their home.

The Parks Department says its goal is to have 2,000 trees planted by the end of fall.

Homeowners are eligible for two trees.

    Joplin, MO - Due to an event in Ewert Park this weekend, Joplin Farmers Market will not be held in its usual location. Instead, several vendors will move to the Joplin Memorial Hall parking lot on Thursday from 4:30 – 7 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.This week’s market will include fresh produce including tomatoes, cantaloupe, peppers, cucumbers and green beans.     Montgomery County (KS) - Montgomery County Sheriff Robert Dierks announced today that two suspects of recent Burglary were apprehended by Deputies today. The first suspect was taken into custody at Ashcraft Tire in Independence. The 2nd suspect was apprehended a short time later on North 5th Street after he attempted to elude Deputies.     Low water table causing ‘milky’ water Neosho, MO - Neosho Public Works has received reports of “milky” water in some neighborhoods. This is being caused by the water well at Dewey and Finney Street drawing air into the lines because the water table is too low. Lines are currently being flushed out and the well at Dewey and Finney has been shut down until Neosho receives enough rainfall to bring the water table back up.
