"Snowfall" Contest

Official Rules

Saga Quad States Communications, LLC ("KOAM-TV") and Surtsey Media, LLC ("KFJX-TV") [the stations] will be conducting the "Snowfall" Contest [the contest] starting on or around October 24, 2011. No purchase is necessary to enter or win the contest. The contest will be conducted on-line.

The contest will begin with contestants predicting when the first measurable one-inch (1") snowfall will occur at the Joplin, MO Regional Airport--an official National Weather Service reporting station. Contestants must submit a specific date (for example: December 10, 2011). Entry should also include: Contestant's First and Last name, Current Address, day and Night time telephone numbers, date of birth, and a specific date contestant thinks one-inch (1") of snowfall (or more than one-inch) will occur. Once the first measurable snowfall has occurred, all entries with the correct date of the first measurable one-inch snowfall will be qualified. The date of the first measurable snowfall will be at the discretion of the stations Chief Meteorologist Doug Heady. The contest will conclude after the first "measurable snowfall" of the 2011-2012 winter weather season. The winter weather season is defined as November, 2011 through March, 2012, inclusive. Measurable snowfall is defined as the first one inch (1") of accumulated snow recorded at Joplin Regional Airport.

Contest winner will win a Sony® Bravia 32" LCD Digital Color Television, KDL-32BX320. Estimated retail value $395.00.

One entry per person.

Contestants may enter (1) Following the link from www.koamtv.com &/or www.fox14tv.com to the stations Chief Meteorologist Doug Heady facebook page, or (2) Posting directly to the stations Chief Meteorologist Doug Heady  facebook page, or (3) Via email to DHeady@koamtv.com or DHeady@fox14tv.com.  In the event more than one (1) contestant predicts the same date the stations will randomly draw from all qualified entries to select the contest winner. Or, in the event one-inch of measurable snowfall does not occur during the winter weather season the prize will remain in the possession of the stations.

Odds of winning are based upon the number of incoming entries, which cannot be determined at this time.

Contestants must live in the 14 county Designated Market Area (DMA) which includes the following counties: In Kansas; Woodson, Allen, Bourbon, Wilson, Neosho, Crawford, Labette, and Cherokee.  In Oklahoma; Ottawa. And in Missouri; Vernon, Barton, Jasper, Newton, and McDonald. Contestants who cannot prove residency within the DMA, or do not otherwise meet all eligibility requirements, will be disqualified and the prize will not be awarded.

Contest void where prohibited.

The stations reserve the right to disqualify any contestant in the event that contest rules have been violated. All winners must sign a release acknowledging that either KOAM-TV or KFJX-TV has the right to, without further authorization, reasonably use the winner's name, voice, photo (still or video), likeness and/or biographical information, and that the stations may use such for promotional purposes on-the-air without further financial remuneration. In addition, contest winners release Saga Quad States Communications, LLC and Surtsey Media LLC, their parent corporations, their officers, directors, stockholders and employees from any and all claims, liabilities and damages arising directly or indirectly from award or use of the prize.

All prizes must be claimed at the stations studios during regular business hours 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. (This requirement may be waived when circumstances make it appropriate to do so) Winners are required to present valid identification as described in rule #2. All identification submitted to verify a winner is subject to verification and acceptance by the stations at its sole discretion. Identification that is counterfeit, illegible, tapered with or otherwise altered will not be accepted. The stations can require presentation of an original birth certificate, passport, Social Security card, valid driver's license or other identification to verify the winner's identity. Only one winner per household, per family, for the duration of the contest will be permitted. The winning prize is non-transferable.

Prizewinners must come to the stations studios within thirty (30) days of their prize being awarded to claim his/her prize. Failure to collect the prize within the specified period constitutes forfeiture of the prize. If forfeited, the prize will remain the property of the stations. Another winner will not be selected.

The stations reserve the right to alter the contest rules and/or contest dates at any time.

All decisions of management regarding the "Snowfall" contest are final.

In the event that the winner is subject to, or the subject of, any order of legal process issued by any government agency having jurisdiction over the affairs of the winner,(e.g. garnishment, child support order, judgment, lien and the like), Saga Quad States Communication's and Surtsey Media LLC's delivery of the prize to the official government entity claiming right to the prize shall be entitled to rely in good faith upon any documents presented by the representatives seeking to collect the prizes in lieu of the winner. Saga Quad States Communications LLC and Surtsey Media LLC shall not be liable for any claim by winner for damage incidental thereto.
