Parsons man pleads no contest in home invasion

PARSONS, KANSAS -

Updated February 24, 2012:  A Parsons, Kansas man pleads no contest in a home invasion case.

Malcolm Odom, 20, was charged with aggravated kidnapping, robbery, burglary and assault.

The kidnapping charge has been dropped as part of his plea and he was convicted of the other three counts.

The case is related to two home invasions in Labette County.  Odom only took part in one.

Kenneth Riley, 46, is the alleged mastermind of both home invasions.  His preliminary hearing will continue on May 10.

The Labette County Sheriff's Department in cooperation with the Parsons Police Department have arrested three male suspects in the recent case of two Labette County home invasion burglaries.

According to a statement made earlier today by Labette County Sheriff, Robert Sims, all three suspects are residents of Parsons. Currently being held in the Labette County Jail awaiting charges are Kenneth Riley, 46; Aaron Sauer, 18; and 19-year-old, Jackson Lewis.

Police say although the investigation was ongoing that a citizen's tip helped quickly lead to yesterday's arrests.

Prosecution will be handled through the Labette County Attorney's Office. Charges are expected to be filed early next week in Labette County District Court.
