Santa visits NICU at Joplin hospital

Updated:
JOPLIN, MISSOURI -

Christmas is still a few days away but on Tuesday Santa delivered toys to babies who were delivered early themselves.

Freeman hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit received a visit from Santa, who witnessed one newborn drinking her first bottle.

Twelve premature babies are here now and likely will spend Christmas at the hospital.  Santa gave each baby a Teddy Bear for Christmas courtesy of Children's Miracle Network.

Lachlan Swagerty is three days old and sat on Santa's lap while still connected to hospital equipment.  Lachlan's parents, Megan and Kyle Swagerty, say Santa helps make a difficult situation a little easier.

Santa spent time with the babies in the new addition of the NICU.  The project added 10 beds and new equipment and technology.
