Good evening, everyone. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the last weekend of January 2012 because it certainly didn't feel like the end of your typical January. Remember how I said we had temperatures reach at or above 60 degrees 8 times this month? We could add a few more days to the tally before the weather takes an interesting turn heading into the month of February...
Current Radar:
Nothing is showing up on the radar across the region and that'll stay the case heading into your Monday. With mostly sunny skies and winds screaming out of the south tomorrow at 15-35 mph, we'll have temperatures blast into the middle 60s for afternoon highs. Last time I checked, our record high for Monday of 66° was set back in 1967. Even though I have Joplin topping out at 64 tomorrow, we'll make a good run at the record. Either way, Monday and Tuesday will have temperatures at or above 60 and that'll leave January 2012 with 10 days with temperatures doing just that.
After Monday comes and goes, our week ahead turns interesting right as we head into Tuesday...

There's not a lot of activity with the front as it begins to approach Tuesday morning, but I am expecting scattered showers popping up along the front by Tuesday evening. The front will take its time clearing out, so we'll keep rain chances around for Wednesday along with the clouds. As the week goes on, we'll have temperatures start in the lower 60s and they'll keep falling into the middle 50s by the time we can catch a break in between systems on Thursday. However, have a look at what may be headed our way by Saturday morning...

The next storm system that'll move in by Friday afternoon wants to start as rain. If the models continue to pick up enough cold air working in with the precipitation by Saturday morning, we could see some snow on the ground when you wake up on Saturday. It does seem to fit Doug's pattern pretty well, so you know that Doug and I will keep an eye on Friday and Saturday. Behind the system, though, we're guaranteed to cool off quite a bit with highs in the middle to upper 30s.
Have a great night and a great Monday, folks!
Here is your latest 7-day forecast.
LONG RANGE FORECAST
Next Weekend:
Rain or snow chances sticking around into the weekend. Temperatures cooler for Saturday and Sunday.
February 5th-11th:
A cool start to the week with a storm system. I think this system will give us rain. But if we can get some cold air we could see a chance for snow. This system will affect us on Sunday and Monday. Then temperatures will rebound quickly with our next system on Thursday and Friday. This will give us probably just rain chances. At least this is my thinking at this time.
February 12th-18th:
We will start the week with a storm system. this will give us rain and snow chances on Sunday and Monday. Then cooler temperature into the middle of the week. Another weak wave around Thursday with slight chances for rain. Then staying cool into the weekend.
February 19th-25th:
A cool start to the week with a weak wave early in the week. So this will give us very slight chances for rain or snow. Then mainly dry with our temperatures moderating a bit the rest of the week.
