Good evening, everyone. Hopefully, you all had a great week. I got to go back up to Columbia, MO to visit my sisters and some friends that I haven't seen in a while. I have to say the drive back last night was interesting considering I kept getting hit by very heavy rain until I got into Springfield. I wish I was still up in Columbia tonight to see my Tigers take on the Jayhawks. Alas, duty calls and I've had my fill of Columbia for a while. All I have to say for tonight is M-I-Z...Z-O-U!
Let's get to the forecast and see what's headed our way.
Current Radar:
We have a cluster of flurries and light snow showers coming across the Kansas City metro as of 9:40 PM. While this batch of snow will continue to move towards our area, most of the snow will have to overcome quite a bit of dry air further up in the atmosphere. That's why I'm only anticipating scattered flurries and, at the worst, very light snow showers until Sunday morning. Not everyone will get in on these chances and if there would be any accumulation with this, it would only stick to grassy and elevated surfaces and would amount to as much as 1/4".
As soon as we get into Sunday around lunchtime, all precip chances will be gone and the cloud cover will begin to break as we head towards Sunday night. We'll continue with the break in between storm systems for Monday with partly sunny skies and highs right where they should be for this time of the year. Expect temperatures around 48° for a high on Monday.
Tuesday will increase the cloud cover and bring in the next frontal system...

The picture above is where the next cold front is projected to be at 7 AM Tuesday morning. It will take its time coming through the Four-States, and we'll have plenty of clouds and at least a chance that some of us will pick up a rain-snow mix before this leaves on Wednesday. It doesn't look like a big deal at this point and we'll continue to watch this system.
Other than that, we'll have a pretty quiet week with partly sunny skies and temperatures actually closer to average compared to the wild temperature swings we've seen in the past several weeks. Highs will stay in the middle 40s with lows from the upper 20s to around 30°. Have a great night, everyone. M-I-Z...Z-O-U!!!!!

LONG RANGE FORECAST
Next Thursday-Saturday:
Temperatures shouldn't be bad through the period. However, the models aren't showing anything popping up. But I wouldn't be surprised if a weak wave appears.
February 12-18th:
A cool start to the week with our next wave on Monday and Tuesday. This will give us rain chances and maybe some snow chances. Then we will turn colder again for the rest of the week. Another very weak wave will push in over the weekend with very slight chances for rain or snow.
February 19th-25th:
Still cool for the beginning of the week. We will see a couple fast moving waves with rain or snow chances. Most likely on Monday and Wednesday. Temperatures will start to moderate as we work into the weekend.
February 25th-March 3rd:
A mild start to the week with rain chances on Monday and Tuesday. If we can get some cold air, this system could end with some snow. Cool temperatures for the middle of the week. Another system for Friday and Saturday with rain or snow chances again.
