Saturday February 11th Blog

Good evening, everyone. Enjoying this latest blast of winter? We haven't had a day this chilly since we hit 24° back on January 12th. It turns out that this winter blast is actually a one-two punch with the cold temperatures being punch number one. We'll be a bit warmer tomorrow and most of your Sunday will be nice in terms of sky conditions before punch number two moves in tomorrow night...

Current Radar:

Nothing in terms of rain, snow, sleet or freezing anything is showing up in our area. However, notice the area of snow around the Denver metro and eastern Colorado? That's where the next storm system is brewing and it's headed our way.

The thing is... the storm system that wants to give all of us a headache on Monday will actually scoot well off to our south. With the winds at the surface and above in the atmosphere, we will have plenty of moisture coming from the Gulf of Mexico to interact with the cold air that won't be budging for tomorrow.

The timeline of the snow/sleet... Our western Kansas and Oklahoma counties will see snow start to fall around 10 PM tomorrow, and the snow will reach the Kansas/Missouri and Oklahoma/Arkansas state lines around 2 AM. Everyone will see snow to start off their morning and it does not plan on stopping heading into the lunch hour. In fact, a few pockets above the surface will warm up just enough to introduce a little sleet for areas south of I-44. The drive home will still be a bit of an endeavor with everyone in on the snow/sleet chances before the system starts to exit Monday night.

When we head into Tuesday, this is what I'm thinking the storm system will leave behind...

The general guideline will be 1 to 3 inches of snow for the entire Four States with any major sleet accumulations staying around areas south of I-44. The big Valentine's Day (Singles' Awareness Day for me, LOL) will start cloudy but the skies will give way to some sunshine by the afternoon. We have another system moving in on Wednesday, but it will stay as all rain at this point in time. Temperatures will rebound back into the upper 40s to around 50 as we head into next weekend. Remember to take your time as you head to your destinations on Monday, slow down on the roads and always stay tuned to the blog for any developments with this storm. Have a great night, everyone!

Nick

Here is your latest 7-day forecast.

LONG RANGE FORECAST

Next Friday-Saturday:

Colder temperatures settle in for Friday and Saturday.

February 19th-25th:

Temperatures will warm up at the beginning of the week with rain chances late Sunday.  We will see rain or snow chances on Monday.  Then cooler temperatures for Tuesday.  I think temperatures will moderate some for the rest of the week ahead of our next storm system.  This system looks like mainly rain late in the week and for the weekend.

February 25th-March 3rd:

Rain chances over the weekend with possible some wintry weather as the colder air works in.  We will turn colder for a couple of days and then moderate again for the middle and later half of the week.  Another storm system for the next weekend.  This will give us rain chances on Friday and rain or snow chances on Saturday.
