Pittsburg State sets another enrollment record

Updated:

For the eighth consecutive Spring semester enrollment has risen at Pittsburg State University.  This Spring a record number of students are enrolled and according to figures compiled by the university 61 more students became a Gorilla than Spring 2011.

PSU officials are also pleased to see a 12% increase in new undergraduate transfer students and an almost 8% increase in new freshmen.

"It means a large percentage of students enrolled in the Fall did choose to come back, that always looks good in terms of how satisfied the students are with what we are doing here," says Bill Ivy, PhD., the Associate Vice President.  "Then the other thing is our new students increased in terms of new freshman and new transfers and we are pleased with that, particularly that transfer number."

Ivy also said a variety of factors are important to the university's growth, including specific academic programs, a welcoming campus atmosphere, and comparatively low tuition and scholarships.
